Atvantage® – Composite Structural Core and Composite Insulating Core

Engineered for specific end uses, Atvantage® provides compressive strength, flame retardancy, acoustic attenuation, and thermal insulation, while achieving a balance between product performance, life, and cost.  Atvantage® is available in a structural core and an insulating core.

Composite Structural Core (CSC): Mechanically interlocked in an isotropic array with chemical enhancements, CSC provides acoustic, thermal, and vibration attenuation while maintaining all structural properties… even in complex shapes including strength, stiffness, thickness, and uniformity.  By adjusting fiber blends and resins, CSC is engineered to be manufacturing compatible with your fabricating processes.

CSC can be used in many product designs, including those that must meet requirements for FAR 25.853, BAC-5564, and U.L. 94 HB Tests.  Applications range from military shelters, to amusement rides.  Although CSC is widely found in the aerospace and automotive industries, it is also popular in the medical and marine environments. CSC is engineered to meet the following performance criteria:

  • Enhanced Bonding Strength - Homogeneous surface with multiple fiber bonding points.
  • Acoustical Insulator - Absorbs and filters specific frequency ranges.
  • Machinable - Does not distort when cut without skin.
  • Unique Moldability - Retains thickness and compressive strength in radius.   No expansion or compression gaps.
  • Simplistic Sealing Process - Seal edges with stiff resin only - no need to fill voids with putty.
  • Increased Structural Strength - Engineered for specific applications while maintaining structural properties.
  • Unique Z-axis Orientation – Provides increased stiffness, split strength, and comprehensive strength.
