Shipper

OBJECTIVE

Moving, loading, unloading and handling raw materials and finished goods. Ensure that finished goods
are shipped to designated customers in an accurate and timely fashion according to customer
requirements, or that goods are moved to or received from other locations for further processing or
storage. Perform responsibilities to meet the goals of the corporation.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Job Classification: Hourly, full-time, non-exempt

Reports To: Shipping/Receiving Supervisor

Supervises: NONE

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Verify customer orders and complete paperwork for shipping (packing slips, Bills of Lading, or other
documentation). Verify purchase orders and packing slips against shipments for accuracy. Distribute
paperwork as necessary.
Move materials between designated locations and trucks or shipping/receiving areas. Stage bales for incoming inspection.
Use computer to locate inventory/stock, input shipping/receiving data, make tickets/labels.
Make arrangements for shipping or transfer of goods utilizing company resources or outside vendors.
Inspect and verify goods are quality material as specified on shop order/related documentation.
Package material or finished goods for shipment according to need or customer specifications.
Maintain neat/clean/safe work areas. Routinely clean area. (housekeeping)
Participate in physical inventories, perform cycle counts and accurately complete all paperwork.
Rotate or relocate stock as needed.
Adhere to and use safe work practices, following safety rules and regulations. Reports unsafe
conditions or work practices to supervisor.
Responsible for quality and expediency of work.
Other responsibilities/duties as required or requested.

COMMUNICATION

Communicates regularly with others within limited areas of the organization for purpose of giving and receiving information closely related to work in progress.

DECISION-MAKING

Decision-making occurs on a routine basis and is based primarily on past experience, some standard practices, and policies and procedures under which incumbent may choose between several available courses of action. Reviewed by Quality Control Supervisor on a daily basis.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Can vary when in production facilities, heat levels, noise levels.

REQUIREMENTS

Training/Education: High School/GED/4-year diploma

Other requirements: Analytical skills and ability to use computer to perform job duties.
