Quality Control Technician

OBJECTIVE

Test production and competitive materials against industry standards and/or internal specifications. Monitor production through visual analysis and spot checks. Input data into computer/records and statistical process control charting. Prepare documentation and certification for customer. Perform production audits. Perform assigned duties and responsibilities to support the safe and productive manufacture of quality product and to meet the goals of the corporation.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Job Classification: Hourly, full-time, non-exempt

Reports To: Quality Control Supervisor

Supervises: May provide indirect supervision to production personnel

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Perform routine physical testing on a daily basis, utilize testing as a tool for acceptance or rejection of product quality.

Perform routine chemical testing on a (daily or weekly) and utilize results for quality approval or complaint analysis.

Ensure accuracy of paperwork and recording of sample test results.

Perform routine audits or inspection of goods in process for conformance to specifications and visual appearance on a daily basis.

Maintain files of test results by style for follow-up.

Recognize and suggest modifications to materials, equipment or procedures to improve efficiency and quality.

Input data into computer as needed for file maintenance and data generation to customers for certification as needed.

Adhere to and use safe work practices, following safety rules and regulations. Report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor.

COMMUNICATION

Communicates regularly with others within limited areas of the organization for purpose of giving and receiving information closely related to work in progress.

DECISION-MAKING

Decision-making occurs on a routine basis and is based primarily on past experience, some standard practices, and policies and procedures under which incumbent may choose between several available courses of action. Reviewed by Quality Control Supervisor on a daily basis.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Can vary when in production facilities; heat levels, noise levels, exposure to chemicals/dyes and various types of fiber, wet areas. Office in factory/lab environment.

REQUIREMENTS

Training/Education: High School/GED/4 year diploma

Experience: 6 months. Experience in Quality Control testing and analysis.

Other requirements: Analytical skills and ability to use computer to perform job duties.
