Define, monitor, develop and correct manufacturing processes. Develop new products/processes. Act as custodian of process/product specifications system. Suggest implementation of new processes and products as defined by product development. NATURE AND SCOPE
Job Classification: Salaried, full-time, exempt
Reports To: Reports To: R&D Director
Supervises: May provide indirect supervision to production personnel.
Ensure the most efficient and productive machine utilization via proper operating procedure.
Execute program/project objectives as defined by supervisor. Responsible for running trial activities. Monitor and report on trials in a written document. Recommend changes to specifications and processes based on sound scientific principles.
Conduct observation of personnel, process and equipment to determine procedural requirements. Monitor plant activity. Troubleshoot when the need arises. Recommend changes to process specifications and equipment.
Investigate facility problems and recommend solutions including equipment modification, operating procedure, update, maintenance, etc.
Conduct lab experiments to support project activities and process development. Provide a timely written report of results and recommendations.
Keep up with advances in technology through magazine subscriptions, patent literature, suppliers, and outside sources when available.
Analyze work-study data, processes, equipment and product specification to establish time and production standards.
Report weekly on activities and next steps.
Maintain files, logs and other departmental records to ensure availability and organization of information contained in them.
Adhere to and enforce the use of safe work practices following safety rules and regulations.

Communicates regularly with others within limited areas of the organization for purpose of giving and receiving information closely related to work in progress.
Decision-making occurs on a routine basis and is based primarily on experience, some standard practices, and policies and procedures under which incumbent may choose between several available courses of action. Reviewed by R&D Directory on a daily basis.
Can vary when conducting trials in production facilities; heat levels, noise levels, exposure to chemicals/dyes and various types of fibers, wet areas. Office in factory/lab environment.
Training/Education: Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Textile).
Experience: 3 years. Manufacturing or technical experience in nonwovens manufacturing, dyeing and finishing textiles.
Other requirements: Ability to use computer in performance of job duties. Knowledge of statistics and statistical principles. Design of experiments. Basic scientific principles. Ability to observe, analyze and communicate results. Excellent communication skills and good technical writing ability.
Computer, printers, telephone, common office equipment. Software: 20/20, Lotus 1-2-3. Statistical programs. Lab equipment; mini card, mini needier, mini latex/chemicals applicator, microscope, materials testing equipment (physical testing lab). Safety and personal protective equipment.
